Silks, Hoop & Hammock with House of Honey Grand Opening

What to look forward to:

Aerial Hoop |  Our hoop classes will be split into three categories: tricks, spins and combos/flows.  We will break down intricate and dynamic tricks and execute them safely, learn proper technique for various spins and create interesting and unique flows.

Aerial Hammock |  Aerial Hammock/Sling- Our aerial hammock classes will focus on three categories: tools for developing personalized choreography, poses, and drops. We will focus on creating combos and flows that cater to your individual strengths.

Aerial Silks |  We will learn different wraps, drops and focus on dynamic foundations in the silk portion of the retreat

Storytelling |  We will explore different qualities of movement and stillness alike, create narratives and storylines to be expressed fully, create intentions for transitions and to just have fun!  We are most excited to debut our “finding your divine feminine” portion of the retreat.  These classes will be centered on accessing and celebrating aspects of femininity and sensual movement.

Your Instructors:

Amanda Ritchie

Amanda began performing at three years old. By the age of seven she starred in a local South Florida children’s show, KidZone. Her passion for performing blossomed and before she attended high school she was offered the opportunity to study with the Joffrey Ballet School on scholarship.  During her academic schooling, Amanda worked full time performing with the Ft. Lauderale Ballet Classique. But after graduation, her desire to travel the world led her to run away with the circus as a headlining aerialist/dancer with shows such as: Dezire, Cirque on Ice and Four Spirit of the Elements.  In 2009 until May 2015 she made the bright lights of Vegas her home performing with Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity and Michael Jackson ONE.  Amanda now lives in Los Angeles, California where she teaches her craft to all ages and all walks of life. In 2020 Grounded in Flight, Amanda’s aerial company and studio, was born.

How to Get Here

The studio is located 1km from Lagos. You have international flights into Lisbon and Faro. Depending on your departure city, they are more or less expensive. Generally, within Europe, flights to Faro are cheaper and from the United States Lisbon is cheaper. However, in 2024, there will be a direct flight from NYC to Faro so this will be a great option if you’re coming from that side of the pond.

From Faro: you can either take a shuttle, a bus or a private taxi/uber to the studio. Generally the price is about 85 euros for private taxi and shuttles are around 12 euros. It’s a 45 minute drive. We can help you arrange group transport if you’re arriving at or around the same time.

From Lisbon: Bus is the best option. It’s about 15 euros and takes 3.5-4 hours to get to the Lagos bus station. From there it’s a 5 minute/5 euro uber to the studio. There are also trains but they take longer and you need to change trains at a station not far from Lagos. We can arrange group pick-ups and help you with transport if you’re arriving around the same time. There are private taxi options for up to 8 people at a time for around 300 euros.
