Rope & Silks with a Halloween Student Showcase

What to look forward to:

Aerial Rope |  Our hoop classes will be split into three categories: tricks, spins and combos/flows.  We will break down intricate and dynamic tricks and execute them safely, learn proper technique for various spins and create interesting and unique flows.

Aerial Hammock/Yoga |  Aerial Hammock/Sling- Our aerial hammock classes will focus on low flow deep stretches to enhance strength and flexiblity. Classes will include an immersive experience that promotes relaxation, mindfulness and body awareness.

Aerial Silks |  We will learn different wraps, drops and sequences.

Storytelling |  We will explore different qualities of movement and stillness alike, create narratives and storylines to be expressed fully, create intentions for transitions and to just have fun!  We are most excited to debut our “finding your divine feminine” portion of the retreat.  These classes will be centered on accessing and celebrating aspects of femininity and sensual movement.

Your Instructors:

Nadia Fasola

Nadia, a self-taught aerialist who has been teaching aerialists of all ages for over 11 years, brings a wealth of experience helping other aerialists reach their goals. Through her travels to workshops all over the world, Nadia has enriched her practice on a deep level by studying with top teachers in every nook and cranny of the world -- including India, Mexico, Italy, Portugal and Spain! A native Italian, Naida is affectionately nicknamed 'the pocket rocket' thanks to her small stature and gigantic strength! She brings a vast treasure trove of information to class! By examining individual technique and carefully explaining important details, Nadia will focus on drills to strengthen your practice and how to create nicer flows in your sequences with better transitions. The morning classes will give attention to technique detail, drills on the ground to help improve your movement in the air and important personalized tips to help you harness your own strengths and identify your weaknesses.

Meredith Levitt

Assisted by Meredith, a certified teacher with Paper Doll Militia and aerial performer for over 10 years, the afternoon classes will focus on personal expression in the air, how to improve your flow, what to do when you need to improvise in a show and what elements to focus on in your own choreography. We'll choose some music and spend some time playing in the air together. For those who would like to perform at the student showcase, we'll help you create a sequence that shows off your personal best in the air!

Sofia Albuquerque

A native of Madeira, Sofia has been teaching yoga and aerial yoga in her home of the Algarve for over 10 years. She brings a deep knowledge of movement practice, meditation and relaxation techniques to the classes. You will come away with a deeper understanding of your own body, your breath and how to regulate yourself in moments of stress. A mother to two donkeys, a beekeeper and an avid gardener, Sofia has a natural connection to the earth, her femininity and her divine energy that makes her practice a transformative experience.

How to Get Here

The studio is located 1km from Lagos. You have international flights into Lisbon and Faro. Depending on your departure city, they are more or less expensive. Generally, within Europe, flights to Faro are cheaper and from the United States Lisbon is cheaper. However, in 2024, there will be a direct flight from NYC to Faro so this will be a great option if you’re coming from that side of the pond.

From Faro: you can either take a shuttle, a bus or a private taxi/uber to the studio. Generally the price is about 85 euros for private taxi and shuttles are around 12 euros. It’s a 45 minute drive. We can help you arrange group transport if you’re arriving at or around the same time.

From Lisbon: Bus is the best option. It’s about 15 euros and takes 3.5-4 hours to get to the Lagos bus station. From there it’s a 5 minute/5 euro uber to the studio. There are also trains but they take longer and you need to change trains at a station not far from Lagos. We can arrange group pick-ups and help you with transport if you’re arriving around the same time. There are private taxi options for up to 8 people at a time for around 300 euros.
